HOW IT ALL BEGIN
I love the Word of God. I love reading it, studying it, researching it, and the history of it.
I am also enamored by the history and story behind each individual copy of the Word of God.
Stories such as a KJV which belonged to my friend's grandfather who preached from it when he was a pastor.
Stories of a beloved NIV from high school that is sentimental to my friend and she can't help but to keep coming back to it.
Stories such as a co-worker hugging her NLT Life Application Study Bible and hesitant to hand it to me for repair because you could tell by the shape it was in that she definitely used it and applied it to her life.
Stories of a wide-margin NASB from college filled with so many notes that my church small group friend can't think of parting ways with it.
Stories of my own Memaw's Bible she was using before her passing.
The stories of these Bibles all have one element in common: they were literally falling apart and in need of repair.
My friends, family, & co-workers could have easily discarded these copies of God's Word and bought another one or placed them in a safe place never to be touched again due to the fragile state they were in, however, the history and sentimental value associated with these Bibles prompted them to find a solution to keep using and displaying their beloved copy.
This is why I do what I do. I have a passion to see a cherished Bible receive new life again and to keep its history going for years to come. When I had the idea to start Lamp & Light Leather, it was not to start a business. I started it for a love for the craft. A love for the preservation of God's Word. A love for serving people.
This site is dedicated to sharing the history and story behind each Bible, project, or repair I undertake and to document my journey as I venture through the craft of rebinding and repair. I hope you enjoy this journey I am on and are blessed by it as I have been.
